Maybe you’ve been wondering about some of the new tattoo removal treatment options other than PicoSure laser tattoo removal? There’s a new one out that uses a tattoo gun to inject a chemical solution that supposedly will create a wound at the treatment area and force a portion of the ink out. In my practice, I occasionally see the leftover scars and horrible results of this type of “treatment”. Look at the example below of a tattoo that was treated with salt. Fortunately, the PicoSure laser is also FDA cleared for scar rejuvenation and I’m able to improve the appearance of the scar while removing the residual ink.
Let me be clear: there is no chemical that will dissolve tattoo ink once it’s been deposited into the skin. Think about that for a second. Even if we injected medical grade acid into the skin, yes the ink would dissolve but guess what? so would the skin itself!
The safest, most effective method for tattoo fading and removal is the PicoSure laser. It has been shown to be far superior to Q-switched lasers in ink clearance and compared to injecting salt solutions and other chemicals, well, there is no comparison. Take a moment to look at my PicoSure before and after pics and you’ll see what I’m talking about. When used by an educated and experienced operator, the PicoSure laser is capable of making the skin look like it had never been tattooed in the first place.
